TONIGHT we read Matthew Chapters 5 & 6

What a great read we had tonight! We read Matthew Chapters 5 & 6. Wonderful stuff!!!

Really it boiled down to don't be like everyone else! How does that show the light of Christ in you to conform to what the world accepts or condones that you should do or be like? It's not God's way, that is the pagans way!  Don't be afraid to stand out. A true follower lets go of the worlds hold on them and does what God wants not what men expect. Just because I enjoy something doesn't mean I should find a way to indulge in it. Indulge in God's plan, and GREAT things will happen!

  1. In looking at Matt 5:16 In the same way let you light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven… Compared to Matt 6:1 Do not practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by then, Matt 6:17 When you fast put oil on your head and watch your face so that it will not be obvious to others that your fasting. And Matt 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body, IF the eye is healthy then it is full of light, if the eye is unhealthy then it if full of darkness.

These together Seem to contradict from chapter 5 to chapter 6 But what I believe it tells us is to not be proud or boastful in our works but humble and kind and helpful. Others will see without you bragging or making a spectacle. Others will notice a difference . An attitude that is kind and caring for others.
    A light in you.
    Christ.

  3. Tonight's reading was GREAT!! In looking at Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. 5:14 you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 5:15Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. 5:16Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. These passages reminded me of where I was in High School. I was in the musical Godspell and there is a song called You are the light of the World! (if you google Godspell you can get the lyrics) But is was such a joyous song and it put me in a place where I did not have much to worry about. My father was there to protect me. Just like God the Father will protect me.

Also in Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 6:34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself...as I relate this to my life as well as my business, I have to be patient. I have to go through those tough times so that I can help other get though similar ones. Kristy you also elaborated by stating that those who grow quickly and easily may have a tough time helping others because they did not experience the tough road getting there (that is what I got out of what you said hahah). Although I want it now I have to weather the storm and not give up because I will get there.

    Hugs!
