Matthew Chapters 7 & 8

Well tonight was interesting to say the least! Satan tried his mightyiest to get us to NOT do this call but the Lord prevailed!!!!!

In Chapter 7 God reminded me that I'm not perfect and to be careful not to judge others. I'm personally in need of that verse tonight so thank you Lord for having Nikki read that outloud!!!

Tonight Chapter 8 really spoke to me. The kind of faith the centurion had!!!!!! He knew that Jesus could command it and it be done! How awesome to be filled with that kind of faith!
Also Jesus spoke of how the cost of following Him would truly set them apart from normal human activities. Are we really willing to do what it takes?Do we truly carry His Word to our life by trusting that He has our back? Would we give up everything we have to follow His plan?
I'm shocked they asked Him to leave!!!!!!!!Wow!! What fear they must have felt in His miraculous doings! But seriously asking Him to leave!! Wow.

  1. Matt 7:9-12 “which of you if your son asked for bread will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish will give him a snake? 11. If you then through your are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him 12 so in everything do to others what you would have them do to you for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. “
I have never really considered that as much as we love and do for our children God loves us even more. Can you imagine? He wants what is best for us. He wants us taken care of. He loves us so much that he makes sure we have what we need. Maybe not always what we want…but certainly what we need right when we need it. I love this!

Matt 7:15-20” watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from Thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus by their fruit you will recognize them.”
This one is good. You learn to watch people by what they are producing and not by what they are saying or doing. You have to be careful with this. It is so easy to assume someone is living or walking right because they are saying or doing all the right things…but if their life is not producing the fruit of the spirit…then you should look closer. When Jesus works through us as the light in us then we produce what God wants produced not what we want produced. The good fruit is from God.

Matt 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day Lord Lord did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers!”
This one is a little scary. But it points out that if you do not have that personal relationship with Christ you are dead to him. He knows you not! That it does not matter what you do on this earth in good deeds it all comes down to following Gods will for our lives and we cannot know that will without knowing him. Everything else is done in vain….This is a constant reminder for me that I need to stick close to God. That this life is not about what I want but what He wants.

  2. Tonight was VERY interesting!!! For the past 2 days something told me to read the chapters before tonight's reading. I did what I was asked to do by the Lord. And guess what I was the one to read tonight. Thank you Kristy for giving me the opportunity to read. I enjoyed it.

In Chapter 7 - God also reminded me that I am not perfect. I know that everyone is not perfect. I know that I will not be judged as long as I do not judge others. For the past few days I have been having parenting difficulties with my oldest son. I realized after reading out loud, that my expectations for my son are set to high. I need to find out what his goals are and help him reach those goals. I am not perfect therefore I should not expect him to be perfect either.

Matthew 7:7 - Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. I took the time to sit my son down and ask him what his plans were after school. He told me that he was going to do his homework and he had a plan. Tonight my son is still working on his homework with no problem. (The power of a praying mom).
