Tonight we read Matthew Chapter 3 & 4...

What a roller coaster tonight's lesson was!!

Here's what I got!

John the Baptist, Elizabeth's son, was an odd duck. He seriously stood out from the crowd, and of course I'm sure that was on purpose! Reminds me of that song "How the Lost Get Found" one of my fav's! He had to stand out to have people be curious about what he was advocating, which was baptism and repentance.

We learned that doing your "religous" duties, and saying the right thing and proclaiming the right words, are only words and ceremonies, its whats inside you, what your intent is, is it to show that you are following the law, or because you truly have a heart for Christ?

I also love that Christ here is tempted after 40days of hot desert and no food, and uses scripture to overcome! He really is teaching us here that no matter how bad it gets and how much we are tempted, the WORD is our "Easy" button! I also love that He isn't asking us to endure anything He hasn't already endured in human form. So awesome, and makes him seem like he really does know what we are going through. He put himself through it first!
Something else I like here is the fishers of men verse! It's like God's way of saying I have something way more important than catching food planned for you to focus on! They didn't even hesitate! I can only hope that if God asks me to drop my nets and go, that I would do the same, no questions asked. I think I would, I pray I would!

TONIGHT we read Matthew 1 & 2...

Tonight we read about Jesus's life in Matthew 1 & 2. Matthew was a tax collector who became Jesus's disciple. There was so much to learn tonight! We learned more about Jesus's birth and the circumstances surrounding it. We learned about King Herod and his paranoid character. We learned that the wise men (Magi) were warned by God not to return through Jerusalem as they had intended but to take a different path after finding Jesus. Finding Jesus may mean that your life must take a different direction too, one that is responsive  and obedient to God's word. Are you willing to be led a different way??

Tonight we read Luke Chapter 1 and Chapter 2

Tonight we read Chapter 1 & 2 in Luke. Luke was a doctor and its why we believe he had such a detailed account of John's birth and Jesus's birth.

Here are some of the comments the ladies had on the reading tonight:

Ann Langdon said:
What hit me is the Angels,
Everyone is always afraid when they see them…. And God always says do not be afraid.  J

Elizabeth was in her 80’s and went through her first 2 trimesters. And then Mary got the news of her pregnancy, went to see Elizabeth.  Elizabeth knew that Mary was to carry the son of God.  And Mary stayed 3 months (Elizabeth’s 3rd trimester. ).  That must have been helpful since Elizabeth was old and going though the last trimester of a first pregnancy.

I love that Mary and Joseph were just everyday parents.
The lost Jesus.  Found him and asked why he did that to them? That is so what we all do as parents.  LOL
Why did you run off…we were worried.  :-)
